At first, the narration introduces us to the young Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin): a very reserved, quiet, shy girl with atypical behaviors compared to other children of her age. Her single father Woo Gwang-ho (Jeon Bae-soo) takes her to a doctor’s appointment to learn more about her personality as a daughter and ends up learning that Young-woo is autistic.
One day, while returning home, the father is threatened by the owner of the apartment where he lives, accused of breaking into his house and soliciting his wife. During an assault against Gwang-ho, her daughter is quite distraught by the altercation and spits out entire quotations from the South Korean Penal Code on physical assault. Shocked by the girl’s behavior, the adults stop fighting to pay attention to Young-woo.
Later, the father discovers that the girl has been devouring the law books that his late wife kept at home and realizes in her a unique potential to learn subjects that are very advanced for her age. So he starts influencing the girl to learn more and more about the laws and encourages her to become a lawyer when she grows up.
As an adult, Young-woo is hired by a law firm to act as a lawyer. Her unique behavior (such as great diction, extremely fast speech, obsession with whales, very high level of reasoning and tics) attracts the attention of bosses and colleagues, who underestimate her due to her psychological disorder, but soon change their minds minds when they realize its incredible potential in action.
Thus, the young woman needs to constantly deploy to adapt to the “social rules of good coexistence” while trying to show all the talent she has acquired over the years. Meanwhile, a possible love interest appears and this has to turn the young woman’s routine into something she had never imagined before her.
