One of the most famous serial killers in the history of Spain will see his story told in a new Netflix documentary series. ‘Shuffle: the killer’s signature’, will come to the platform streaming next June 9 and will narrate the horror story that toured the streets of Madrid in 2003.
The Serie, Directed by Amanda Sans Pantling, is produced by those responsible for ‘¿Dónde está Marta?’, Cuarzo Producciones (Banijay Iberia), with Marga Luis as executive producer.
Throughout its three episodes, the media phenomenon that involved the case will be portrayed and its investigation will be analyzed. In this way, new elements will emerge in the plot and new perspectives beyond the official account of the events.
‘Baraja: la firma del asesino’ follows the team led by Ricardo Pardo Liñares in obtaining testimonies and evidence (including unprecedented unpublished material). Thanks to his work, developed over two years, investigators collected more than 60 hours of material and more than 20 interviews with key figures in the case: journalists, surviving victims, relatives and friends of the defendant’s environment will have their space and will tell the story from their point of view.

“Throughout its three chapters, the docuseries dissects a case that brings together social alarm, political tension, media pressure, blind spots in the investigation, hasty arrests, chaotic telephone lines or failed recognition roundsyes (among other elements, which situate the narrative as an authentic thriller).”
“In a case where the media phenomenon surrounding the murderer eclipsed the victims, for the first time, the docuseries incorporates the testimonies of the survivors, who claim their place in history to tell how they lived events that have completely marked their lives (in a story that, for some, remains unresolved).”
Netflix has already shared the first official trailer for the series.
According to Marga Luis, its executive producer, “‘Deck: the assassin’s signature’ is an interesting documentary from many points of view; from the social point of view, that of the investigation and how media pressure affects an event of this magnitude. We were interested in delving into how many times the story we create around serial killers has nothing to do with reality. The construction of the monster swallowed up all the attention and left all the victims of an atrocious case into oblivion.”
