Next Tuesday (16), Sebrae-SP launches the Sebrae Comunidade program. The action focuses on the promotion of entrepreneurship in the periphery of the state of São Paulo. Courses and consultancy will be offered for those who want to open a business or already have a business and want to improve management.
The launch will feature a lecture by Tião Santos, known for being part of the documentary “Lixo Extraordinário”. The film showed the routine of garbage collectors in Gramacho, in the Baixada Fluminense region, and was nominated for an Oscar in 2011. Tião is currently involved in projects aimed at recycling.

According to the Business Mapping of the Peripheral Communities of the State of São Paulo, carried out by Sebrae-SP and Data Favela, low-income entrepreneurs, mainly present in the communities and suburbs, move BRL 61 billion per year in the state of São Paulo Paulo.
The study also included a field survey of entrepreneurs living in São Paulo communities and suburbs, identifying an average age of 39 of entrepreneurs in this profile, mostly black (68%), head of household (71% ) and with low schooling (53% completed primary school). Two out of three entrepreneurs have children and the share is higher among women (73%).
