Luxembourg blinds and encourages the players, but the reformulation of the Corinthians squad is already starting

Timão’s coach protects players in conferences and has made changes aimed at using athletes

Unlike recent coaches, Vanderlei Luxemburgo dodged questions about Corinthians’ performance at press conferences. In three games the coach has not yet won at the helm of the alvinegro club.

If Vítor Pereira, Cuca and even Fernando Lázaro were more explicit in press conferences when addressing the problems presented by the team in matches, Luxa adopts a different line of work, internalizing the speech so as not to expose the players.

An example of the coach’s actions came after the 3-0 defeat against Botafogo. In the press conference, Luxemburgo praised the Corinthians’ defensive system and said that he will analyze the cause of the goals internally, taking responsibility for fixing the defence.

Another area where he hit the right spot is in the emotional side of the games. Luxemburg’s recent work has been characterized by motivational speeches, and the coach has emphasized to the athletes the importance of wanting to play the toughest matches. Next week, Timão will have a tough streak, facing São Paulo and Flamengo in the Brasileirão, as well as his first match against Atlético-MG, for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.

REFORMULATION

While retaining players in interviews, the manager shaped the team ahead of the transfer window. Players who will not stay at the club, such as Balbuena, Du Queiroz and Júnior Moraes, have been removed and will train separately. Rafael Ramos and Cantillo have not satisfied Luxemburgo in training and should only be used in case of losses in their respective positions.

Another attitude of Luxemburgo was to give more space to the young players of Terrão. Murillo, Biro, Matheus Araújo, Pedro and Wesley have gained prominence in the team since the arrival of the coach, who has never hidden his appreciation for the base boys.

One of Luxa’s actions upon Joaquim Grava’s arrival at manager Joaquim Grava was to ask for Pedro to withdraw from the Under-20 World Cup. The coach expressed his wish for Biro to stay, but lack of time prevented that from happening.
