The president of Ukraine arrived in Italy on Saturday
Left-wing activists unfurled a banner in front of the Colosseum in Rome to protest against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who on Saturday made his first visit to Italy since the start of the Russian invasion (13).
“Zelensky is not welcome. Against war, not weapons for Ukraine”, reads the poster displayed by the Communist Youth Front (FGC) in front of the most famous monument in the Italian capital.
According to the national secretary of the FGC, Lorenzo Lang, the Ukrainian president “put his country at the disposal of the imperialist plans” of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a position that echoes Russia’s justifications for the conflict.
“The Russian invasion is unacceptable, let’s say it bluntly. But the war in Ukraine is an imperialist war on both sides, and the peoples involved pay the price. suffering that has hit Ukraine,” he added.
The movement is against Italy’s military support for Kiev and claims that “the war between the powers is reducing Ukraine to a pile of rubble”. .
