Spurs have been left without an official manager since the departure of Antonio Conte
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Saturday morning that negotiations between Julian Nagelsmann and Tottenham have come to an end. The 35-year-old German coach has decided not to take charge of Spurs next season after weeks of talks.
The main reason for the withdrawal, according to the journalist, was the lack of definition among the club’s managers. Fabio Paratici, former sporting director of the Londoners, has resigned after being suspended by Fifa for cases of tax fraud in which he was involved when he was part of the governing body of Juventus. Without a definite command in the institutional part, Nagelsmann chose not to advance in the negotiations.
Spurs are having a tough time this season. Italy manager Antonio Conte has been sacked after a string of poor results and interviews in which he blamed managers and players, as well as a public row with Richarlison. Cristian Stellini took over as caretaker but did not last long in the position and left the club following a 6-1 defeat to Newcastle. Ryan Mason, a former player of the team, received the opportunity to lead the team until the end of the season and spoke about possible job continuity.
– I have never denied this possibility and have always said that I feel ready. I feel ready for this moment, I feel I can help the club if I stay. I really believe in Tottenham and in the people who are here. There are a lot of people out there who want to fix what’s going on and I think I can help” Mason said.
With the now 31-year-old manager in charge, Tottenham will take to the field this Saturday at 11am against Aston Villa in a match worth fighting for in European competition. The match will be valid for the 36th round of the Premier League.
