Muppet movies and series connected to each other? It’s possible…

The Muppets return to Disney+ with a new series, but this time it’s the musical members of Electric Mayhem who grab the spotlight.

The Electric Mayhem Band, the rock band the Muppets fronted by Animal, has launched into the streaming service on ‘The Muppets: The Mayhem strike the note’one of the best Disney+ series in 2023.

However, series co-creators Adam F. Goldberg, Jeff Yorkes and Bill Barrettaare hopeful of creating even more Muppet-centric content in the future and have unveiled plans for their own “Muppetverse”.

In a recent interview about the series, Goldberg suggested that could mean the starting point of a larger plan of stories from the world of everyone’s favorite puppets.

“Jeff, Bill and I have very lofty dreams that Disney Start This Muppetverse anywhere, just like marvel or star warsthis network of movies, specials and animation,” he told ‘Gizmodo’. “We’d love to help them do it.”

“But if they’re going to do it, they started with Iron Man, right? So for us it was like, ‘We’re doing a show about the rock band; we’re going to focus on this very specific corner of the Muppet Universe.'”

    HOW TO GET DISNEY+

“Let’s show Disney and the public that there are full backstories here and we just want them to fall in love with this band.”

“Let’s not worry about anyone else. And from there, let’s branch out and do even more. So that was always our idea.”

“In fact, we were a little more excited about introducing new Muppet characters. That was always a goal for us.”

Beyond that curious nod at the end of HBO Max’s ‘House of the Dragon’ to The Muppets, this is not the first Muppets project to premiere on the Disney streaming service, since ‘More Muppets Than Ever’ starred Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the gang in a six-part comedy series.

As for the cinema, the Muppets last came to the big screen in 2014 with ‘The Muppets Tour’which featured a luxury cast led by Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey, Tom Hiddleston and Christopher Waltz.
