Guardians of the Galaxy 3: the film breaks a curious record

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it’s doing well at the box office and even won a PETA award for animal activism. Now, the final chapter of the Guardians trilogy has broken a rather curious record: it is the film with the most prosthetics ever made, surpassing The Grinchsince 2000.

Documentation

The production used 22,500 prosthetics, 500 wigs and 130 full wigs, as revealed at Variety the head of the makeup department, Alexei Dmitriew. 75 makeup artists were needed for this, and at times, the set had as many as 90 professionals at work.

Materials have been used in most of the characters of Guardians of the Galaxy: from Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) to The High Revolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji). Not even the half-human, half-animal citizens have escaped the prosthetics.

In the case of the film’s villain, two prosthetics and a helmet “mixed” with the actor’s skin were required. Thus, the final feeling was that Iwuji’s face was tense. All this was done in such a way that the nuances of the actor’s performance were not lost in May due to makeup.
