Even crazy at first! Chris Hemsworth blows things up in Tyler Rake 2, coming soon to Netflix

After being presumed dead at the end of Netflix’s first blockbuster, Tyler Rake, Chris Hemsworth is back as a mercenary for another high-flying mission with Tyler Rake 2. After the death of his son, this broken man goes on missions. Each more dangerous than the other. A mind-boggling behavior that even the smallest fine of a psychologist can qualify as suicide.

In the first trailer for the film, we saw that good old Tyler was alive and well. Barely recovered from an injury and a near-fatal fall — finally, after nine months of getting back into shape the hard way — he’s giddy back into the heat of action. His new mission? Get the tortured family of a ruthless Georgian gangster out of prison.

This makes for some already awesome shots of him brutally beating people with a riot shield in a prison yard as if it’s from another age. He surprises the insurgents with his burning fist, presses the elevator, and in less than 2:30 minutes, he unloads at least three magazines. Action always, that’s the promise of this second opus.

In this latest trailer, we see what has become a hallmark of the first film: high-intensity sequence shots for jaw-dropping scenes. We see a helicopter landing on a moving train, Tyler Rake hilariously dishing out punches, and nearly getting his head cut off as he enters the tunnel…

Director Sam Hargrave is back for this sequel, as are producers Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously worked with Chris Hemsworth on Avengers: Endgame. After making his directorial debut with the first film Tyler Rake, Sam Hargrave is on his second feature film. He previously worked as a stunt coordinator with the Russos on Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War. Suffice it to say, the gentleman knows his stuff.

The rest of the cast includes Golshifteh Farahan and Adam Besa as Nick and Yaz Khan, members of Raki’s mercenary team, as well as new faces Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili.

Tyler Rake’s first movie, released in April 2020, was a huge hit for Netflix. It’s the most-watched Netflix original movie debut in the streaming service’s history, reaching 99 million households in its first four weeks of release. It became the fourth most watched movie of 2020.

Tyler Rake 2 will be available June 16 on Netflix.
