This time, Schwarzenegger will not return: “The franchise is not over, but I am done with it”
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mythical phrase, “I’ll be back”, will not come true this time. The actor has declared that he has had enough with one of the franchises that made him famous in the 80s, stating that he will no longer return to the saga.
“The franchise isn’t over, but I’m done with it”
The franchise he is referring to is none other than Terminator, which hasn’t quite taken off as a saga since the first two films made it an action movie icon. “‘Terminator’ was largely responsible for my success, which is why I will always be very fond of it.. The first three movies were great. In the fourth [‘Terminator Salvation’] I was not there because I was governor. Then, The five [‘Terminator Génesis’] and the six [‘Terminator: Destino oscuro’] They did not complyas far as I’m concerned. They just weren’t well written.”.
“I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to turn the page on a different topic when it comes to ‘Terminator’“, the actor concluded. “Someone has to come up with a great idea.”
However, he does not rule out returning to another of the sagas with which he triumphed in Hollywood. After the release of ‘Conan the Barbarian’ and ‘Conan the Destroyer’, a third installment in the franchise was on the table at different times, but the project always ended up in development hell. In his interview with THR, Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals He’s Still Down To Play Conan One More Timebut the problem seems to be related to who owns the rights.
“Has been pending for the past 10 years. [Fredrik] Malmberg owns the rights,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger. “He comes up to me and says, ‘Oh, I have a deal with Netflix,’ and when we ask Netflix, they don’t know anything about it. It’s one of those crazy things. I hope you notice.”
The actor continued: “I think I would do it as ‘Unforgiven’, where you play at age. There’s a great script written by John Milius. The story is there. There are directors who want to do it. But he has the rights, and Until I sell the rights to a movie or two, or the franchise, there’s nothing you can do about it..”
Where it will be (100%) will be precisely on Netflix, starring in his first TV series, ‘FUBAR’in which “A father and daughter have been working as CIA agents for years, but each kept their double lives hidden from the other, resulting in their entire relationship being one gigantic lie. Upon learning of the move , the pair are forced to work together as partners and, against the backdrop of explosive action and espionage, they will learn who they really are.”
The 8 episodes of ‘FUBAR’ will be available at once in the Netflix series catalog starting on May 25, 2023.
