A Globe surprised fans of the soap opera by announcing the return of Sand women (1993) replacing Chocolate com Pimenta on station afternoons. Marco Frotainterpreter of Tonho da Luadecided to express his opinion on this choice of channel.
Interviewed by Patrícia Kogut’s column, from O Globo, the artist said he was very euphoric at the news of the choice of channel. He recalled that it is a work that is already thirty years old, but which has marked many generations in various parts of the world.
“It is one of Globo’s best-selling telenovelas abroad. This, for me, has produced a number of great travel stories. In 1995, for example, I was invited to attend the inauguration of the President of the Uruguay”said the artist, who recalled being called Tonho da Lua by the politician.
Due to the character, the actor recalled that he was in the Porto region of Portugal where a voice actor approached him to tell him that he had been working with the character in Russia. To Marcos’ surprise, the man was very excited about the meeting.

The famous recalled that the card came to help him deal with the death of his first wife, Cybele. He also mentioned that Tonho has a very touched spiritual side and he had to work on it a lot.
Currently, Marcos Frota works focused on his career in the circus. He has a project called Universidade do Circo, which has more than 1,500 young people.
“I feel a great nostalgia for making television. I have a long and very good relationship with Globo and I think this return will happen. I have already received invitations from other broadcasters and channels, but I have never accepted”, concluded.
