Corinthians and Zenit are negotiating the situation of the forward from Mantua, involved in the deal that sanctioned the definitive arrival of Yuri Alberto at Timão at the beginning of the year. At the end of June, the youngster’s loan contract with the Russian club expires and Alvinegro has kept 40% of the economic rights of the son of terrao.
Zenit has already signaled to Corinthians that they want to count on Mantua for good. According to the investigation of Gazzetta dello Sport, the deal tends to revolve around 3 million euros (about R$16 million) for 30% of the 21-year-old. The boy’s current bond with Timão will last until the end of 2026.
Initially Corinthians had 90% of Mantovano’s rights, but the club sold 50% to Zenit and kept 40%, while 10% belongs to the player himself. The athlete played 25 matches for the Russian team last season, having started in five, with four goals and two assists. The St. Petersburg team became the champion of the local national championship.
Mantovan went to distinguish themselves at Corinthians in 2022, with coach Vítor Pereira. The Portuguese coach liked the versatility that the youngster offered, being able to play on both sides of the pitch and even occupying unusual positions, such as right winger. Last year, the youngster played 33 games for Timão, scoring five goals and dishing out one assist.
injury history
Mantovan has gone through some hardships throughout his career. Even so young, the athlete has already undergone three major surgeries, as he tore the ligament in his right knee in 2017, tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee the following year, and finally tore his ligament again of the left knee in 2020 , when he was taking his first professional steps.
This injury is one of the factors that are taken into consideration at the negotiating table and lowers the market value of the Mantuan. The player is currently in good health and is in Brazil enjoying the holidays with his family.
