Film festival season is always exciting for fans of the Seventh Art, and considered one of cinema’s biggest, the 2023 Cannes Film Festival has kicked off the season this year.
Showings began on Tuesday 16 May and will continue until 27 May. In addition to awarding one of the most prestigious awards in the industry, the Palme d’Or, Cannes attracts attention for another curious tradition: the standing ovation that lasts minutes.

The record holder for clapping time is Pan’s labyrinthby Guillermo del Toro: there were 22 minutes of applause.
The film did not win the 2006 Palme d’Or, but even today the work is a favorite of fantasy and horror lovers.
