After the school shooting that occurred at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde (Texas) on May 24.
After the premiere in 2019 of the third season of ‘Stranger Things’, and after more than three years of drought, Netflix has finally released the first part of ‘Stranger Things 4’which consists of seven episodes of more than an hour in length and that, we assume, will be devoured by all the fans of the Duffer brothers series this weekend.
The new season, of course, has also debuted in the United States, but Netflix has decided to add a message. In this way, following the terrible shooting happened on May 24 in which an 18-year-old murdered more than 20 people -19 of them children- at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde (Texas), the platform has decided to include -only in US territory- a warning sign before the beginning of the first chapter.
It reads as follows: “We shot this season of ‘Stranger Things’ a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting at a Texas school, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 harrowing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to all the families grieving a loved one.” This message appears before previouslywhich serves to refresh events from the previous season, and is played automatically at the beginning of this fourth season.
In addition, Netflix has also decided change the description of the first episode to Introduce the next note “Warning: Contains graphic violence involving children” and has added “disturbing images” to the classification notices of the series itself after the commotion in the United States.
Something that would make sense a season that has been described as the darkest and most terrifying of allin which even Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers from the beginning of the series, has come to recognize this change in tone between the first season, closer to Richard Donner’s ‘The Goonies’, and this fourth, with certain echoes to the horror classic ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’as evidenced by the fact that Robert Englund (actor who played Freddy Krueger) is one of his new additions.
‘Stranger Things 4’ takes place six months after the battle at the Starcourt Mall. Dustin, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Will and Max have been separated for the first time and are challenged to navigate the complexities of high school, while a horrific new supernatural threat threatens to destroy everything.
