Indiana Jones and the Relic of Destiny made its debut last Thursday (18) during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Harrison Ford’s farewell to the franchise earned five minutes of applause from the audience and almost brought the actor to tears. However, reviews of the film from seasoned critics were mixed.

Not only is Indiana Jones and the Relic of Destiny an almost complete waste of time, it’s also an overly convoluted reminder that some relics are best left exactly where they are.

Kevin Maher, from the paper Times, was more balanced. The critic wrote it Indiana Jones and the Relic of Destiny “Not as bad as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The bad news is, it doesn’t get much better.” However, he praised Harrison Ford’s charisma.

On the other hand, the critic of place of culture empireJohn Nugent praises continuation of franchise Indiana Jones sans Steven Spielberg, which is “exactly where fans expect it to be (franchise references).” It still underlines the sober tone of the film, unusual and different from other blockbusters.
