Les Randonneuses on TF1: Is Clementine Sellar’s series based on a true story?

Launched a few days ago on TF1 in front of more than 4 million viewers, Les Randonneuses follows the adventures of Noéme, Sarah, Patty, Karen, Morgan and Valerie, six women directly or indirectly affected by cancer, who embark on a challenge. Climbing the Dôme de la Lauze, a peak of almost 4000 meters.

With a very fair way of talking about cancer, with sport overdoing oneself and endurance, but also with the often very severe consequences of the disease, this new mini-series was filmed by Clémentine Sellier, Alix Poisson, Camille Chamou, Claire Villara, Josephine de May. And Tiphaine Daviot was able to touch the hearts of viewers in her first two episodes.

So much so that many wonder if the journey of these six “chemo buddies” is based on a true story.

The report on the association inspired the idea of the series to its creator

A few weeks ago, at Series Mania, producer and Les Randonneuses co-creator Fanny Rydberger explained that the characters and their trajectories are fictitious, they were imagined specifically for the series. But it was a report about a very real association and women about to climb Monte Rosa in Italy that inspired the idea for Les Randoneuses.

“I was listening to the news from a distance and at some point I heard the word ‘cancer’ and approached the TV, when I usually avoid the word”He told us, who is also the originator of the Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec series.

“I saw a short clip from a documentary that talked about an association that exists, Des Sommets pour bouncer, which allows women who are in remission from climbing to rebuild themselves through sport to regain their confidence.”.

“And when I saw these lavish pictures, because it was in Italy, in Monte Rosa, I just saw light, smiles, joy, life, a lot of humor, whereas for me it was quite a taboo subject that caused anxiety.”The producer and screenwriter, who also worked on En Famille, continues.

“Of course, it was not only joyful, because the testimony was quite trying. But I said to myself: “We can talk about it like this, with joy, with life, cancer does not always win.” I realized that it was. It was important about cancer To speak in this tone. These women inspired me.”. And the rest, you know.
