If you know the terms Autobots and Decepticons, then you are part of the Transformers family. It’s 2007 when fans and uninitiated of the Hasbro toy franchise will discover the first installment in the cinema, directed by the master of explosions and action Michael Bay.
Two more feature films will follow, led by Shia Labeouf, before Mark Wahlberg directs Transformers 4 and 5. This latest opus has a substantial budget of 220 million GEL, which is explained by the use of two IMAX cameras to provide the most immersive experience. Experience is possible.
Despite a saga that falters and disappoints at the box office (the 5th film was the least profitable), the Paramount studio greenlights a spin-off centered on the yellow Autobot Bumblebee, this time associated with a heroine. Played by Hailee Steinfeld. This is also the first time that a film in the franchise is not directed by Michael Bay. The prequel, set in the 80s, has been well received by the press and audiences, who consider it the best of the franchise.
Just when we thought Paramount was done with this saga for a while, the studios have renewed the franchise with the upcoming release of the seventh installment. Titled Rise of the Beasts, it’s a reboot that this time takes place in the 90s. Enter Shia Lebeouf and Mark Wahlberg, it’s actor and singer Anthony Ramos, who will fight alongside Optimus Prime and other robots. Expected to hit our darkrooms on June 7th, these Transformers feature Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons in particular.
So to get back on track and learn all about the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, why not (re)watch it on Netflix on May 31 before the 6 Transformers movies?
