In addition to Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont also has problems
This Sunday (21st) the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, will fly over various cities seriously affected by the wave of bad weather that hit Emilia-Romagna.
The chief executive anticipated his return from Japan, where he was participating in a G7 summit, due to the disaster that left 14 dead and more than 36,600 homeless.
Meloni landed at Rimini airport in the early hours of the morning.
However, the situation is still quite delicate in some areas, with the risk of new and intense rain showers. Therefore, the Civil Defense has maintained the red alert for the region – also due to soil soaking, which can cause landslides.
The governor of the region, Stefano Bonaccini, on the other hand, remained optimistic this Sunday due to the sun that appeared in several cities.
“Finally the sun is out and the situation is improving. We still have some areas, particularly in the province of Ravenna, the low-lying ones, which are flooded. In Cesena we are cleaning up the city and, it seems to me, tomorrow it will be, if not everything, almost everything clean, ”she said in an interview with radio RTL 102.5.
The rains in the region are considered the worst in 100 years and came less than 20 days after another wave of “unprecedented” bad weather.
Piedmont – Although less intense, the rains also affected Piedmont and caused the river Po to overflow – which was experiencing its worst drought in history – between the cities of Cuneo and Turin.
Some roads have been closed as a precaution in various parts of the region. But there was no serious damage or casualties from the situation. .
