Is Fast & Furious 10 the best start to the franchise?

The Fast & Furious X race is on! The latest installment of the successful franchise (to date) released on May 17th at home and May 19th in the US, it should break a few records. Indeed, projections have been blown: Fast X’s launch — as it goes by its diminutive name — was estimated to have grossed $320 million in its opening weekend (through this week) and worldwide. Thus, it should open with $67.25 million at the US box office and $252.68 million at the international box office according to Deadline.

If these predictions come true, the tenth installment in the saga will achieve the second best start of the year behind Super Mario Bros., the movie, and the third best start for the franchise behind Fast & Furious 8 (2017) and Fast & Furious 7. (2015).

But that’s not all: The feature film would also score the second-best start for a non-superhero live-action film since 2019 (behind Avatar , Waterway ), as well as the sixth-best start for a studio film since 2019 behind Spider . -Man: Not at home, Doctor Strange in the many worlds of madness, Avatar, Waterway, Super Mario Bros, the movie and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Internationally, Louis Leterrier’s film should end the weekend on the top step of the podium in every market it opened, and even surpass it. Super Mario Bros. and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as the best opener of the year outside the US.
