Futurama: After a 10-year absence, the insane series is finally back (and with a teaser)!

We told you about it more than a year ago: the animated series Futurama is returning after its 2013 finale. This is the second revival of Matt Groening’s series, which already went on hiatus between 2003 and 2007.

It first aired on FOX, a public network, then returned to Comedy Central, a pay-per-view channel focused on comedy programming.

Now it’s streaming platform Hulu that’s giving it a third chance. New episodes of the sci-fi animated series will officially begin airing on the American platform for the 8th season on July 24.

10 episodes are broadcast weekly. Hulu ordered a total of 20 episodes in February 2022 and just released the first teaser, which you can watch above.

This is the second time the series has returned to the limelight since its release in 1999. After an initial four-season salvo on Fox, the series’ reruns have found new life on Cartoon Network and DVD.

Four live-action movies were then made, and then re-released to form a fifth season, which aired on Comedy Central starting in 2008. And Comedy Central aired two more seasons of 26 episodes between 2010 and 2013. are you following me

what is futurama

For those unfamiliar with the Futurama universe, the animated adult sitcom follows Philip Fry, a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy who is accidentally frozen on New Year’s Eve 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later.

The plot of the series focuses on his life as he starts a new group of friends. If you’re already a fan of The Simpsons and Matt Groening’s other series, you’ll love Futurama.

There’s comedy, sci-fi, and plenty of eccentric elements unique to the creator that never go out of style. But since this revival is a continuation of the previous chapters, you may want to check out the past seasons, all of which are available to stream on Disney+, but with another 10-season cut. Specialists are confused about this question, but the main thing is that all episodes are.

According to the official synopsis for the new season, “New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will discover decades-old mysteries – including developments in Fry and Lila’s epic love story, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s trash can, the secret history of the evil robot Santa. and the whereabouts of Keef and Amy Tats.

Meanwhile, a new pandemic rages in town and the team explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancellation culture and television.“.

The original series stars Billy West, Kate Sagal, Tress McNeil, Maurice Lamarche, Lauren Tom, Phil Lamar and David Herman. John DiMaggio, known for his Bender voice, was not initially part of the new episodes, but he announced that he would be joining them in March 2022.

Matt Groening created the series and developed it with David X. Cohen. Both are executive produced with Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz. Rough Draft Studios is providing the animation, and 20th Television Animation is the studio behind the series.

So far, we don’t have a release date in France. But with the Hulu series regularly airing in the territory via Disney+, formalization should be inevitable.
