Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Monday that he believes the country’s economy is closer to the “optimistic numbers” estimated by his portfolio than to the projections of analysts in a survey compiled by the central bank.
When asked about the difference between the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) projections in the Central Bank’s Focus report and the Treasury’s estimates on the indicator, the minister cited other forecasts from financial institutions that reinforce the scenario projected by the portfolio.
Speaking to reporters at the ministry’s headquarters, Haddad said he believes there will be convergence between the different estimates throughout the year.
