Every day AlloCiné recommends watching a movie on TV (again). Tonight: Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones and Omar Sai Dante in Hell.
In 2011, Omar Sai was named César Award for Best Actor for his role in The Untouchables, in which he co-starred with François Clouse. The film’s success at the French box office (over 19 million views!) Opened the door for him to Hollywood. He now lives in Los Angeles, “the favorite of the French” (according to an IFOP poll Sunday newspaper In August 2016) joins American blockbuster actors such as X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World and Hell.
The third part of Professor Robert Langdon’s adventure film saga, still starring Tom Hanks and directed by Ron Howard, Hell Is a faithful adaptation of Dan Brown’s homonymous novel. The story takes us through the colorful alleys of Florence to explore one of the most famous and mysterious works of literature: Dante’s Inferno.
Accustomed to working with international actors, filmmaker Ron Howard said he learned a lot from Omar Sis: “He speaks English very well, but playing English is really different. (…) Omar was very sophisticated in this matter and took care not only to translate the words but also the intention from one language to another. It was very interesting as a director.“
Omar Sai is not the first French actor to join the saga, as Audrey Toto, Jean Reno and Jean-Pierre Mariel also starred in The Da Vinci Code, where we also met Denis Podalides.
