Camisa 10 gets special permission to enter the country
Forward Yeferson Soteldo was almost unavailable for the match between Sul-Americana and Audax Italiano. Upon arrival in Chile, the number 10 shirt was banned from entry, but Santos turned the tables by securing a “special release” with help from Conmebol, the Chilean Football Federation and the local government
The Chilean government has not allowed Venezuelans to enter without a visa since 2019. Since Santos did not provide the necessary documentation, he had a difficult time resolving the unusual situation.
The information was initially released by GE and later confirmed by the LANCE! report.
Soteldo embarked at Guarulhos airport this Monday afternoon (22). The Santos delegation arrived at around 21:00 at the airport in Santiago, Chile. Surprised by the situation, number 10 spent two to three hours without being able to enter the country.
While the club tried to resolve the situation, the rest of the Santos players went to the hotel. Those responsible for the management and logistics of the club contacted Conmebol and the government of Chile until they managed to obtain a “special release” for the player.
Despite the scare, Santos maintains normal programming in the country. The club will train at the Universidad de Chile Training Center this Tuesday (23) and, on the same day, will travel to Rancagua, where the duel against Audax Italiano will take place. The match takes place this Wednesday (24th), at 21:00 (Brasilia time).
