Damn. So sorry to hear about the passing, far too young, of Ray Stevenson. I only knew him a little from shooting post-credits of Thor 2 & a couple interactions at events, but we had some good laughs & he was a joy to work with. His friends & family of him are in my heart today. ♥️

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing, too young, of Ray Stevenson,” explains director James Gunn. “I only knew him a little bit from filming the ‘Thor 2’ post-credits and a couple of event interactions, but we had a lot of laughs and it was a pleasure working with him. Stevenson entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Volstagg, one of the main allies of the Nordic hero with the unstoppable hammer. He played the character in ‘Thor’ (Kenneth Branagh, 2011), ‘Thor: The Dark World’ (Alan Taylor, 2013) and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (Taika Waititi, 2017), but this was not his first participation with the house of ideas since, in 2008, became Frank Castle himself in ‘Punisher 2: War Zone’ (Lexi Alexander)sequel to ‘The Punisher’ (Jonathan Hensleigh, 2004) in which he took over from Thomas Jane as the tortured protagonist.
So sad to hear the news that Ray Stevenson, our Pullo in Rome, has passed away. A brilliant, gutsy, larger-than-life actor who filled every part he played right up to the brim. My thoughts are with his family from him, his lovely wife Betta and their beautiful kids from him. What a loss.

“Very sad to hear the news that Ray Stevenson, our Pullo in ‘Roma’, has passed away.“, highlights James Purefoy. “A brilliant, bold, larger than life actor, who filled every role he played to the brim. My thoughts are with his family, his lovely wife Betta and his beautiful children. What a waste”.
Titus Pullo, his role in the wonderful ‘Roma’, the series by John Milius, William J. MacDonald and Bruno Heller that you can see on HBO Max, is also part of the career of an actor who has managed to become a staple among series fans with appearances in ‘Dexter’, ‘Vikings’, ‘Crossing Lines’, ‘Black Sails’ and ‘Saints & Strangers’.
What shocking news for all of us on the team! 💔

On the big screen, we have also been able to enjoy the actor in titles such as ‘King Arthur’ (Antoine Fuqua, 2004), ‘The Other Two’ (Adam McKay, 2010), ‘The Book of Eli’ (Albert Hughes, Allen Hughes , 2010), ‘The Three Musketeers’ (Paul WS Anderson, 2011), ‘Kill the Irishman’ (Jonathan Hensleigh, 2011), ‘Divergent’ (Neil Burger, 2014), ‘Big Game’ (Jalmari Helander, 2014) and the Spanish ‘Cold Skin’ (Xavier Gens, 2017).
At the Star Wars Celebration recently held in London we were able to see Stevenson for the last time who, although he was already part of the universe imagined by George Lucas for lending his voice to Gar Saxon, a character from the animated series ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and ‘Star Wars : The Clone Wars’, introduced us for the first time to see Baylan Skoll, his character in the imminent ‘Ahsoka’the Disney+ series in which we will meet this mysterious user of the Dark Side of the Force.
