Rony reveals the conversation with Abel Ferreira and celebrates the end of the fast for Palmeiras

Two assists and a goal. Wednesday night (24th) was perfect for Ron. In addition to participating in all Palmeiras’ goals against Cerro Porteño, in Alviverde’s victory in the fourth round of the Libertadores group stage, the “Rústico” ended an uncomfortable fast.

Without scoring for Verdão in 11 games, the striker finally scored again. After the match in Paraguay, Rony celebrated scoring a goal again. The last time the player had scored was on March 11, 2023 — that Saturday, against São Bernardo, Rony scored the only goal of the match played at the Allianz Parque, valid for the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista.

“It’s very difficult to even talk about it. We are coming to an increasing number of games, obviously when you don’t score, playing in attack… this generates distrust. I was asking for a lot. But with the confidence of my team, with work, you have to keep your head very calm. At the right time, at the right moment, things happen. In the first half it didn’t work, but in the second I was very concentrated. I got to the locker room and my team-mates encouraged me, they told me I would score. This is very important. I came back even more connected, when the opportunity arose I was ready. I had the privilege to score and I am happy to help my team in the best possible way” he said.

Rony missed a clear chance to score in the first half, squandering a chance without a goalkeeper. Despite this, he managed to keep his head high in order not to let the failure undermine his confidence – as Alviverde’s own coach, Abel Ferreira, indicated as revealed by the player after the match.

“I had a conversation with the teacher today and he put me at ease. He said things would happen at the right time and at the right time. He told me to keep fighting, be a warrior in the field, and thank God today I did my part, I gave my all, I ran for the team, I fought up front, I couldn’t get chances to score in the last few games and I did in this one. I ended up taking the ball terrible in the first one time, but in the second half I was face to face with the goalkeeper and I scored. My head was clear. Of course, when you don’t score, you get very excited,” Ron finally acknowledged.
