Lily-Rose Depp justified herself for the abundance of naughty scenes in the new series

This week at the 76th Cannes Film Festival premiere of the new HBO series “Idol”. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson’s show stars Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye). Professional film critics were skeptical about the project and were outraged by the abundance of extremely explicit scenes. The actress stood up for her heroine and explained why the series was not without provocative shots.

Jocelyn is a born performer. And I think it extends to all aspects of her life, not just her professional one. For example, the way she dresses means that she is always trying to tell you something… Or express herself in some way. I also think the character’s casual nudity physically reflects the nudity we see in her emotionally,” the artist said.

Levinson also spoke out about critical comments. The director admitted that sex does have a strong influence on modern culture.

We live in a very sexualized world where the influence is really strong in terms of the psyche of young people. And we see it in pop music,” Levinson said.

Sam also claimed that he and Lily-Rose talked a lot about who Jocelyn was. The director called her a character who has a strong sense of self and an equally strong sexuality.

Sam is in many ways the best director I have ever worked with. I have never felt more supported and respected in the creative space, and my input and opinion was more valued. Working with Sam is a real collaboration in every way – what matters most to him is not only what his actors think about the work, but also how we feel doing it. He hires people whose work he appreciates, and always creates an atmosphere in which I feel that I am seen, heard and appreciated, ”Lily-Rose Daily Mail quotes.

The series tells about the behind the scenes of the music industry. In the story, the spiritual leader of the cult and part-time owner of a nightclub enters into a complicated relationship with a rising pop singer. In April, it was reported that they decided to partially re-shoot and re-edit the series, subsequently removing one of the female characters.
