“Come on, Barbie, let’s go party!”
The charm and fun of a fantasy world begins to smell in the air with the new trailer for ‘Barbie’, the candidate to be one of the movies of the year. Margot Robbie plays the most famous doll of all time on a journey that will take her from Barbieland, her utopian universe, to the real world in her search for the meaning of life.. She will be joined by Ken (Ryan Gosling), her innocent partner who sometimes seems more like an accessory or a pet. The couple will have to survive in a normal city, where the buildings are not pink and not everyone is called Barbie and Ken.
The first trailer for ‘Barbie’ began with a tribute to ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, while a voice-over explained how Barbie was revolutionary when it came to allowing girls to have a toy that wasn’t a baby.. The new product line sold the idea that people could be anything they wanted to be, and the iconic doll hasn’t stopped believing in that idea ever since.
In this new trailer, the film of Greta Gerwig shares more information about Barbie’s momentous journey toward realizing her identity in the real world. Until now, Barbie has lived in a land of non-stop beach parties, shopping sprees at the mall, and an idyllic relationship with Ken. But After crossing into our reality, he will discover his legacy, the ills of patriarchy, and how there is more to life than pink convertibles and fill your dream home with recyclable trash.
But the biggest surprise comes in the final part, where it sounds briefly the most iconic song ever written about the Mattel doll. Although at first the group Aqua claimed that their song would not be used in the film (probably to lobby for more money), eventually the ‘Barbie Girl’ will sound hand in hand with a new version performed by rappers Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice. Along with them, among the first names announced for the film’s soundtrack are Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Tame Impala and Ryan Gosling himself.
Along with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, ‘Barbie’ will feature an all-star cast, including Will Ferrell, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Simu Liu, scott evans and the voice of Helen Mirren.
‘Barbie’ will be released worldwide in theaters next July 21.
