Crime Tropes: ‘Crivel finds himself with a teenager on his arm’ … Beatrice De La Boulay Reveals Season 4 News

After a successful launch last week in front of more than 4.3 million viewers, Season 4 of Criminal Tropics continues this Friday, May 26 at 9:10pm on France 2, this time with one new episode that promises to be broadcast. Turn upside down the daily life of Gael Crivelle, played by Béatrice de la Boulay.

Indeed, while he is investigating the death of a young student with Saint-Rose (Sonia Rolland), Crivelli sees Thais, a 15-year-old petty thief who will soon take him under his wing. For better or for worse?

In the middle of filming Season 5 of Criminal Tropics in Martinique, Béatrice de la Boulle spoke to us about this hugely successful fourth season, the relationship between her character and Thais, and how they work as a duo. It is formed with Sonia Roland, gaining depth every year thanks to the talent of the screenwriters.

AlloCiné: What is the state of Gale Crivelli at the beginning of the fourth season of Criminal Tropics after the end of her story with Frank?

Beatrice de la Boulaye : It starts a bit from scratch. The hard part for Crivelli is that he doesn’t really know what he’s looking for. There was a pretty obvious complicity with Frank (Arieh Elmaleh) and at the same time telling us that there was a little family in this relationship. that they were going to share married life with St. Rose. And finally everything collapses once again.

But what’s quite funny is that there remains almost a family side to St. Rose. At least it brought them closer together. And suddenly Crivelli’s state of mind is a little more family-oriented in this Season 4. Because there’s this little guy who’s about to come into his life. Finally, he touches his love wound less. I think Frank closed the door on love stories. He moves on to something else.

Exactly, you caused Thais to arrive. What effect will this little 15-year-old thief he takes under his wing have on Crivelli? Will it force him to exercise authority and learn to take responsibility?

Of course. And above all, it pits him against himself, because Thais is a miniature Crivelli. So it’s pretty amazing to see how he reacts to someone who has the same answer as him and who makes him take on responsibilities that he wasn’t really ready for (laughs).

It’s not like Crivelli thought about having a child if she took nine months and raised it herself. He meets directly with a teenager on the hand, which he does not control, but he has a lot of love. And which, suddenly, means everything to him. The arrival of this Thai in the life of Krivelli is very interesting.

It went well right away Tya DeslauriersThe actor who plays Tais?

Yes, it went really well right away. And reality coincided with fiction. Because he has his grandmother in Martinique, so he had to sleep at home, but he spent his life with me (laughs). He slept with me half the time. And I took him with me, immediately took him under my wing. We went to a restaurant on the beach. We immediately had a very friendly, almost motherly relationship. People in restaurants thought it was my daughter (laughs).

We imagine that more than the investigations, it’s these personal and family intrigues that will deepen Gael’s character, which is what you love most about her as an actress?

completely. For Sonya, as for me, it is a great pleasure. We develop our heroes like Mille-feuille, who gain thickness, psychological complexity year by year. The palette of emotions is expanding. It’s a real pleasure for us to develop more subtleties in our characters.

There are a lot of very interesting explorations in this fourth season, but what makes it our favorite season of all is that we get to connect with the characters as they have more and more concrete lives. In the early years, of course, we are searching for our attitude. And then, the more we talk to the authors, the more we understand these characters. It’s an incredible opportunity.

Even if there’s always that formality they can’t get past, and even if they’re very different, Melissa and Gael are getting closer and closer this season 4…

True, we all want them to be friends. But they never get there because their differences overwhelm them. That said, there’s one thing that doesn’t diminish: the respect and admiration they have for each other. And finally they caress each other.

In this season 4, Saint Rose is thoroughly “Crivelized”, especially in the first episode about the infiltration, we go much more into the comedy, let’s go. Sainte-Rose is super outgoing and it’s beautiful to see. Whereas Crivelli, along with Ty, is bound to be a little more righteous, more authoritarian, more responsible. So they really come together from rubbing shoulders.

Additionally, the season opens with Crivelli telling St. Rose: “You are my longest relationship”. It’s magical (laughs). And as in all couples, you often have to compromise. But they begin to develop a real relationship.

Crivelli and St. Rose, the shocking duo of the series.

Is there a scene from this fourth season that sticks out in your memory, perhaps because it was more difficult to film than others?

The last scene of season 4 and after season 5 was a bit difficult to shoot. But I can’t say more, I don’t want to spoil the audience.

You are currently filming Season 5 of Criminal Tropics in Martinique. Can you name some of the guests we’ll be seeing on air next year?

We will have the Firmine Richard we have been waiting for so long. We are very happy to have him here. Jean-Baptiste Shelmerdin too, from our dear neighbors. And we have other guests who are very nice finds. We have a very good cast in season 5.

I think that the series attracts more and more the public, the profession, and suddenly the actors are motivated to come to us. And they are always well received. Together with Sonya, we are always very grateful to the actors who come to shoot with us. We welcome them, everyone welcomes them and it’s great, it gives a good job.

A few words about your projects outside of the series?

I always load the mule a little, there is a lot going on. Already, the Airnadettes are living in their final months as we are about to embark on a farewell tour in the fall, with two final dates in the Trianon on December 8th and 9th. We are completing this adventure after fifteen years of existence. We are making a documentary for this purpose and for these fifteen years, because the story is extraordinary. It is a great emotion and a lot of work.

I’m also writing a single on stage, which I’m going to launch soon, in the provinces and in Paris. will be called heroines. And then there’s the almost French comedy that gets renewed Fire of love and chance, which is a diversion from Marivo, who I’ll be playing my part in from early August, once filming on Criminal Tropics season 5 is over. We have other plays in mind, because almost the idea of French comedy is to hijack the classics. We have lots of trays and we hope it will be a great adventure.

And in parallel with all this, I write fiction for television with Berenger Crieff and Francois Vincentel. It is currently in development, but I hope it will see the light of day. My schedule is full right now, but I love it, I need it.
