According to Francesca Orsi, head of drama programming at HBO, the new prequel series of game of Thrones, The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight (A Knight of the Seven Kingdom: The Hedge Knight) will closely follow the books written by George RR Martin, so the derivative will be divided into three seasons, depending on the works.
Obviously we’d like to go further, and George is still thinking about the remaining stories he plans to write, but right now we’re focused on three seasons spanning every book, every story.

The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was announced in April by HBO after Streaming made its merger with Discovey official, a change that rebranded the platform to Max. The production takes place 100 years before the events of GoT and focuses on the story of two characters, Ser Duncan the Tall (future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard) and his squire, Egg (future King Aegon V Targaryen) — also known as Dunk & Egg.
It’s worth mentioning that the news comes amid the Hollywood writers’ strike, which recently crippled production on The Hedge Knight. The information was confirmed by the author of the books himself, to update fans on the progress of the new series.
GoT Universe and other updates
With HBO banking on more GoT spinoffs, Orsi also addressed rumors of a new series centered around conquering Aegon. According to her, the conversations are very early, moreover, there are so many other ideas and candidates for production that it is not possible to confirm information about what may or may not come to life.
“But yeah, we’re exploring some worlds in canon and in George’s work”, he narrowed down the comment. “But we don’t have many scripts either, so it’s too early to talk about it.”
The only new spin-off already announced centers on the character of Jon Snow, however, he too has yet to receive approval from the channel. “We’re working hard with the writers to get him in shape for a possible green light, but right now no, there’s no determination on whether he can go through with it.
