On March 27, 1996 in France, animation took a leap into the future when Toy Story was released, the first feature film entirely on the computer. But also the first from the Pixar studio, which until now was known for its shorts and which is preparing to become the world leader in animation.
A status the lamp company still holds nearly 30 years later, even if Disney (which bought it in 2006) has since reclaimed the hair of the beast, and Dreamworks and Illumination have done more than resist. But Pixar has been offered the privilege of closing the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival thanks to Elementary.
If this one announcement puts you in a trance, it’s because you’re one of the studio’s fans. And that we will have to prove it by passing our two quizzes without problems.

Nine years after the launch of Vice Versa, Pixar is back on the Croisette. Without competition, but with an opus that promises: elemental. or the story of the friendship between fire and water creatures in a city where the elements live in perfect harmony.
The square is reminiscent of Vice Versa, and the city we see in the trailers evokes opus like Monsters & Cie, a company that adapts the same codes as ours, but with its own specifics. Directed by Peter Sohn (Le Voyage d’Arlo and Short Cloudy Passages), Elementaire opens in cinemas on June 21, with the French version featuring the voices of Adele Exarchopoulos and Vincent Lacoste.
