A terminator can sometimes hide another. Former ’80s action superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his big TV series debut this week with Fubar, a new Netflix original production!
In this action comedy, Schwarz plays an undercover CIA agent whose repeated missions and various lies destroy his marriage. With retirement approaching, during which he hopes to win back his ex-wife, the latter embarks on his final mission. There, his path crosses… his own daughter, who is herself a spy for the American government.
During an interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that the series was created to replicate the action-comedy tone of his cult film True Lies. But many references to the former California governor’s career are also inserted into the show’s ten episodes, starting with references to the Terminator movies.
Not Schwarzenegger’s favorite Terminator
Turbar also allowed the SF franchise’s iconic T-800 interpreter to cross over with another interpreter from the saga. The villain of the series is indeed played by Gabriel Luna, recently seen in The Last of Us, who played the main antagonist in the last installment of the franchise, Terminator: Dark Fate.
Gabriel Luna and Arnold Schwarzenegger face to face in the movie Terminator: Dark Fate
Although the 75-year-old Austrian-American actor recently admitted that he does not hold this feature in his heart, this sixth opus from Tim Miller was still created as a semi-reboot of the franchise and a direct sequel to Terminator 2. by James Cameron (thus removed from the official timeline, the previous sequel produced).
This new component made it possible for this new type of terminator to compete with the older model represented by the T-800. Left in our time after his mission (to kill John Connor), the latter embarked on a path of redemption with the help of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Thus, the film ended with Arnold Schwarzenegger sacrificing himself to defeat this new enemy.
This union will certainly not have the same flavor as the appearance Linda HamiltonRobert Patrick or even Michael Biehn in the series, but there is no doubt that fans of the Terminator saga will appreciate the role of these two actors of the franchise in Fubar!
The Fubar series with Arnold Schwarzenegger is now available on Netflix.
