“Obi-Wan Kenobi” premiered on Disney + on May 27 and, along with its first two episodes, wowed Star Wars fans with numerous references to the original franchise and surprise encounters, which connect and explain the relationship of Obi-Wan with other characters. In a recent interview with Rotten tomato TV, however, series director Deborah Chow has revealed that viewers can expect even more cameos.
“I don’t think it would even be Star Wars without some Easter eggs and some special appearances. So there’s more to come, “Chow said.” We needed to get out of character. We didn’t want to put things just because, “he added, referring to the other paths the famous Jedi Master has taken.
In the first two episodes of the series you can see several references – and they will be from fans of the Star Wars universe. One is, for example, the Jedi who is reunited with his old leather belt. The song, which in the current production is offered for sale to Obi-Wan, was used by him in “Revenge of the Sith”, 2005. Another fact that may have sharpened the memory of fans – especially with the arrival of the series “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett”, its spin-off, was the presence of a homeless clone trooper, played by Temuera Morrison. In fact, the character is Boba Fett, a very famous bounty hunter in the franchise.
Another presence, not so new, is that of Darth Vader. The return of the villain, which will see Hayden Christensen reprise the role, was already expected by fans, as his return had already been announced, and was even considered “exciting” by Luscafilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The culmination of this is Obi-Wan’s reaction to the discovery that Anakin Skywalker is not dead and, in fact, ignited the dark side of the force.
Some rumors also indicated the presence of Mark Hamill in the series, however the actor has denied the rumor. Hamill played Luke Skywalker in his previous version, so it would be possible to insert the character in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” only if a visit was made in the future – according to the timeline of the series, which takes place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “The Force Awakens”, Luke is a child and has yet to be a Jedi (which is shown in the original trilogy).
