A concoction “fit for a king”
The end of ‘Succession’ is the culmination of one of the best series in the history of television. An hour and a half of incredible performances, poignant and emotional dialogues and lThe final reveal of who is the successor, once and for all, to the patriarch Logan Roy (Bryan Cox). The last episode has been a roller coaster that perfectly summarizes the four seasons of the HBO Max series: betrayals from behind, brief moments of tenderness between brothers and last-minute desperate negotiations. But, between all these moments, what has attracted the most attention is the disgusting milkshake that the Roy brothers make in their mother’s kitchen.
The ingredients of the “food fit for a king” consist of milk, frozen bread crusts, tabasco sauce, raw eggs, pickled gherkins, cocoa powder and Shiv’s Spit (Sarah Snook). Jeremy Strong, the actor who plays Kendall, was the recipient of the delicacy made by his brothers, and the actor has revealed that he had to actually drink it on set. HBO sensed that fans would wonder about this, since during the analysis of the series finale in the official podcast of the program, Strong confirmed: “Yeah I drank it yeah“.
“We only did it a few times, and then I went outside and gagged and jumped in the ocean and washed my hair.Strong said.
Throughout the 4 seasons of ‘Succession’, comments have emerged from the filming crew about Strong for his extreme commitment to his craft, “fucking annoying” method acting, as Brian Cox came to define it. But, as Strong himself put it, he “wouldn’t know how not to drink it,” though he, too, admitted that he was disgusting.
Strong also revealed one of the alternative takes that was shot for the final scene of the series. In the episode, as it aired, the despondent Kendall wanders from Wall Street to Battery Park after failing (once again) to succeed dad Logan. With the Statue of Liberty on the horizon, Ken tearfully looks out over New York Harbor, probably contemplating the end of it.

The thing stays there, but in the alternative scene that was not used, Strong took the scene a step further and climbed over the barrier as his bodyguard Colin (Scott Nicholson) tries to stop him..
“I looked at these waves and it was so windy that day and so cold and there was a piece of metal ringing and it was a terrible sound and I couldn’t take it. I stood up and slowly walked towards the barrier that was there and jumped over it.says Strong. “I really didn’t know what I was planning to do, and the actor who was playing Colin saw me and ran over and stopped me from doing it.”
“I’m sure that Jesse’s final choice [Armstrong, el creador] is the best“, he says, “and in a way I think you see the intent of the character.”
