The forward scored a goal in Corinthian’s victory over Atlético Mineiro, for the Copa do Brasil
Corinthians fans had a great night at the Neo Química Arena this Wednesday. Despite a 2-0 first-leg win, crowds filled the stadium to watch Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s side turn the score around, beating Atlético Mineiro on penalties to progress to the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil. And one of the heroes of the triumph has a first and last name: Roger Guedes.
The number 10 scored the goal that sanctioned the 2-0 and extended the duel, bringing the contest to extra time and penalties. This was the striker’s 18th goal of the year and his 40th since joining Corinthians in 2021.
Guedes is the team’s top scorer this season and is now also one of the club’s top ten goalscorers this century. Roger tied for 10th in the table with midfielder Paulinho, who is also in the current squad, but has been missing in recent games.
