In 1994 in the United States and the following year for us, animal detective Ace Ventura made his film debut and launched Jim Carrey’s career. Since then, the American comedy, directed by Tom Shadyak and Jim Carrey, respectively, with Courteney Cox, has become a real cult subject.
With a budget of $15 million and a worldwide box office gross of $107.2 million, Ace Ventura: Detective for Cats and Dogs is what you might call a triumph. This success spawned a franchise that included the sequel Ace Ventura in Africa (1995), the animated television series Ace Ventura (1995-2000), and the television movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Jr. 2009).
