In Fast & Furious X, Jason Momoa plays Dante Reyes, an eccentric villain who sets out to take down Dom’s family. And speaking of Dom, it looks like his translator has some pretty serious opinions about why the movie reviews aren’t good. According to RadarOnline (via ComingSoon ), Vin Diesel wouldn’t be satisfied with playing Jason Momoa in a feature film, which he says would be the reason for those poor reviews!
Indeed, although the film was a phenomenal success at the box office, critics did not follow and were mostly negative, talking about the overly extravagant plot and action scenes. And while Jason Momoa has been largely praised for his performance as Dante, RadarOnline reports that Vin Diesel won’t be thrilled if his co-star is seen as the film’s only bright spot. A source told the site: “Vince is embarrassed that Jason is seen as the film’s only bright spot and steals the show in the franchise he built.“
According to other sources, Vin Diesel also spoke about “overacting” on the part of Jason Momoa, saying that the actor’s “over-the-top” and “scene-stealing” nature contributed to the bad reviews and the delay of the film. RadarOnline also notes that the Aquaman hero will be aware of his co-star’s strong opinions.
Keep in mind that if this turns out to be true, it wouldn’t be the first time that Vin Diesel has had a problem with one of the Fast & Furious franchise actors. Indeed, his old problems with Dwayne Johnson, who was known to the public, forced the latter to leave the franchise. While it’s all settled, with Dwayne Johnson set to return for the 11th installment as well as his own solo film, it seems Vin Diesel is still very sensitive when it comes to the saga he holds dear.
