The Vietnam captain dreams of swapping shirts with Marta at the World Cup

Vietnam doesn’t have great pretensions in the Women’s World Cup contest, but captain Tran Thi Thuy Trang already foresees a special moment in the competition which will be played in Australia and New Zealand. The athlete brings the desire to meet Marta, a reference in Brazil and the world in the modality.

Trang said that if he could swap his jersey for a World Cup personality, he would choose the Brazilian one. “This exchange should be with Marta,” said the player, in an interview with the official website of the Women’s World Cup.

Marta is no longer in her prime. The 37-year-old Brazilian recently suffered a serious injury and is trying to get back into her rhythm. It will probably be the last participation of Brazil’s number 10 shirt in the World Cup. However, the attacking midfielder earns much praise from the Vietnam captain.

“I’m a big fan of his! I know he’s older now, but he’s still in great shape and has great skills,” added Trang.

At 34, Tran Thi Thuy Trang will lead Vietnam into a tough group in the first round of the World Cup. The debut will be against a power: the United States, on July 21st. Afterwards, the team faces Portugal and Holland, two rivals from the European school.
