Fanny Herrero, the creator of Dix Pour Cent, is finally back. For Funny for Netflix, he is signing a disturbing, fair and terribly modern piece of work at a stand-up comedy in France. Little Wonders.
Რ About?
Four young actors are trying to find a place for themselves on the Paris stand-up stage.
Funny, TV Series, Created by Fanny Herrero with Younes Buchif, Mariam Gueet, Elsa Gued, Jean Suez… Available on Netflix
Who is he with?
The cast of Funny does not consist of stars. As in the case of Dix Pour Cent when it started, Fanny Herrero is betting on actors of choice who are almost unknown to the general public but who, we hope, will achieve the same success as their predecessors.
Thus, in the role of Nezir, we find Yunus Buchif, who will be the common theme of the series. Already appearing in Les Magnétiques, he is best known as the “Rouen rapper”, simply by his name “Younès”, then “Yoon on the Moon”. The young man is just as smart with a microphone to make people laugh as he is in rap.
This is the most famous distribution. Mariama Gueye has starred in many TV shows, including La Smala s’en mélle and most recently Gloria and Sophie Cross. He radically changes the register with Funny and reveals all his comic power by playing Isatu, a comedian who is married to a child who breaks down thanks to an explosive sketch.
In the role of Bling, the former star of the French stand-up and owner of Funny (Comedy Club, which is used as the headquarters in the series), Jean Xuen plays his first major role. After small roles in Palmashow, in Fais pas ci Fais pas ça and most recently in Honorary Man with Kad Merad, he portrays a fallen star and the wrong slope.
Finally, along with Younes Buchif, the real revelation of the series, Elsa Gued plays Apollinaire. A brilliant young woman – and a bit odd – belongs to the Parisian middle class, she dreams of appearing on stage and making people laugh.
Is it worth a look?
Filming series behind the scenes in France, telling good mechanics of building a valve, daily battles and making people laugh, here is a challenge that only Fanny Herrero, with a special talent for creating attractive and unique characters, could raise.
The challenge took his hands down Funny. We found only one small flaw in the series, its slow start. After the first two episodes that over-expose the characters and their problems, Funny really takes off and keeps its promises.

Car Funny tells the story of four characters who have a common goal – to make others laugh – but of very different origins. Nezir lives alone with his father in poor health and works as a waitress. Bling knew the glory, but in the dark drug, he could not make the slightest sketch. Aisatu, who was married to a doctoral student and the mother of a little girl, did not choose the career her parents had hoped for. And Apollinaire, still a student, already has a life drawn away from his parents on stage.
And this desire to make people laugh has nothing to do with a superficial dream of glory. As the phrases in the series say, “They want to live with humor, but humor allows them to liveThis is the inner need of each of them. And we realize how similar this career choice is to the priesthood.
Will it be Nezir, who runs the valves on his bike all day, Apollin, who thinks about his snoring even in the most intimate moments, or Isatu, who exposes his sex life to destroy the audience in two … all giving up his flesh and sweat. Go naked and strike the viewer in the heart in the least flattering way possible.

Faithful to his culture as a pioneer in the field of comedy, Fanny Herrero changes here – again – the codes of French comedy. In a joke, the characters destroy all the stereotypes we see that they attach to too many French plays. Nezir, Aisatu, Bling, and Apollin each in their own way break the shackles of their origin.
Fundamentally modern, with its tone and treatment of subjects – the mid-season sex scene is for public benefit – is ridiculous both in its very realistic presentation and, at the same time, in a bit of time. It looks like an amazing fairy tale, in version 2.0 and in ultra-modern Paris. Wonderful, I tell you.
