In May, Petrobras refining units achieved a Total Utilization Factor (FUT) of 95%, the best monthly index since July 2015, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
On some days in the second half of the month, the level reached over 99%, the company added.
The total refinery utilization factor takes into account the volume of oil actually processed and the reference load of the refineries, i.e. their operational capacity.
According to Petrobras director of processes and industrial products, William França, the company’s refining, logistics and marketing areas work to increase processing capacity, without neglecting safety.
“We are working to further improve our derivatives, modernize refineries and reduce the environmental impact of operations, in maximum safety,” he said in a statement.
The May performance was recorded despite scheduled maintenance shutdowns at the RPBC (Cubatão-SP), Refap (Canoas-RS), Reduc (Duque de Caxias-RJ) and Replan (Paulínia-SP) refineries, the company said.
