The ministers of the first college have made it clear that they do not intend to be held hostage by the prosecutor’s office

The ruling that rejected the appeal against the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), left a message to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

First Class Ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) he was required to immediately draw a line and warned that he does not intend to be hostage to changes in the position of the PGR.

The message is that the Court is not committed to supporting other waivers by Attorney General Augusto Aras in the complaints filed by his predecessors.

The toughest spokesman was Judge Alexandre de Moraes: «The Public Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for the public prosecution, it is not responsible for the entire process. And I say that to avoid confusion. seeing several regrets from charges previously offered.”

The position of the Attorney General’s Office does not bind the ministers’ decision. If the withdrawal of the charge is found to be unfounded, prosecution may follow. Moraes highlighted: “Repentance is effective only if there are strong elements, I would say, for the real closure of the criminal action”.

Toffoli asks to speak and signs. Barroso reiterated the position of his colleagues: “The hypothesis here is extremely exceptional, because the Supreme has the position that, in principle, the Public Prosecutor is responsible for the criminal action, but, once proposed, it becomes unavailable. Which is the general rule and we reiterate it here”.

The complaint against Arthur Lira, for alleged bribes to the Companhia Brasileira de Transportes Urbanos (CBTU), was not the first to be dropped by the PGR.
