Actor Tom Holland, best known for his role as Spider-Man, has decided to take a break from his creative career. He announced this in an interview with Extra. The reason for this decision was the difficult work in the series “Crowded Room”. In the project, Holland plays Danny Sullivan, a character with multiple personality disorder (or in other words, dissociative identity disorder). According to Tom, he was “horrified” by the idea of playing the part of a man with a mental disorder. However, he agreed to this because of his interest in the topic of mental health.
I thought it was time to tell a story about mental health and trauma. And to explain to some people how crazy it can be and how strong your mind is – it can work for good, and maybe for harm – and it really resonated with me, – Holland admitted.

Filming in the series was given to the actor quite hard. Because of this, he decided to temporarily suspend work on new projects.
I’m not used to hard work. I’ve always kind of lived with the idea that hard work is good work. I really liked it, but then again, the show broke me,” he said.
The first season of the anthology series “A Crowded Room” is based on the book “The Curious Case of Billy Milligan” by Daniel Keyes. The show releases June 9 on Apple TV+.
Last month it became known that 26-year-old Tom Holland has been abstaining from alcohol for a year and four months. Just the last role made him think about his health. The inner torment of the protagonist prompted Holland to think about his own mental well-being. Tom noted that he sometimes saw himself in the character.
