Wednesday on Netflix: Actor accused of sexual assault finally speaks out

In a series of tweets posted on Jan. 19 that have since been deleted, a Twitter user accused actor Percy Hines White, who was featured on Wednesday’s Netflix series, of sexual assault. In her statement, the young woman who claims to be one of the victims explained that she met the actor when she was a student at the University of Toronto between the ages of 17 and 20.

She says the star along with a group of friends manipulated young girls, often underage, into sleeping with them and taking nude photos of them. Nevertheless, according to the user, there were complaints then, but none were taken into account. Later, many fans of the series demanded the release of the actor using the hashtag #CancelPercy.

The director in question, as well as the Netflix platform, has never spoken about these allegations before. This June 7th, Percy Hines White finally breaks his silence by issuing a press release His official Twitter account.

He condemns ADisinformation campaign” and adds: “My family’s personal information was leaked and my friends received death threats.” He also points out that photographs of him as a minor have been used.

My friend Jane was misrepresented as a victim and her efforts to clarify the situation were ignored“, he writes. He insists again in his message: “Rumors are lies. I do not accept that someone forces me to forgive someone’s fantasy and who ignores the safety of others. It is these kinds of baseless, malicious statements that create mistrust towards the victims.

In the last part of the message, the actor adds:It is sad to know that such slander has hurt people. I am grateful to those who supported me and helped me share the facts. Harassment of my family, friends and colleagues must stop.”

It is still impossible to know whether the actor will return to the cast of the actor Wednesday for its 2nd season. Netflix has yet to comment on the matter.

Wednesday is available on Netflix.
