“Wandinha”: The continuation of the series will have more horror, says Jenna Ortega

The Netflix debut of ‘Wandinha’ caught the attention of younger audiences mainly due to the narrative composed of romance and adventure paralleling the dark essence of the main character, but that is about to change. Jenna Ortega, who plays the main character of the series, points out that the second season will be more horror and less romantic.

In a recent interview, the actress said she was not satisfied with the script of the first season. “I don’t think I’ve ever had to step foot on set like I did in ‘Wandinha’ because it’s so easy to fall into that category. [adolescente]especially with this kind of show,” the actress said. “Everything she does, everything I had to play, just didn’t make sense to the character. Her being in a love triangle didn’t make sense.

Ortega also stated that during filming she simply started changing her character’s lines, making her question her professionalism. “There were moments on that set where I got almost unprofessional, in a way, I just started to switch lines.”

In between negotiations with the studio, the actress revealed that she’s gained more behind-the-scenes space in the sequel to the series. “We decided that we wanted to lean a little more towards the horror aspect of the series,” Ortega said in an interview with Variety. “Because it’s so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take itself too seriously.”

As for the emotional relationships between the characters that remained open in the first season, Ortega indicated it “We are dropping any romantic love interests for Wandinha, which is pretty awesome.”
