Andy Muschietti on The Flash: ‘Unlike anything that’s ever been done’

In an interview, he revealed some behind-the-scenes details of the film, which will be released in theaters on June 15th.

Andy Muschietti comes hitting the superhero universe. By directing The Flash, the Argentine director manages to make a film full of action, twists and emotions. In an interview, the director commented on what it was like to bring these elements together in a DC film.

“Sure, it has special characteristics in a hero film, because of the genre itself, but it has a sensibility that applies to everyone. As a director, I think the film needs sensitivity above all else, the plot must have emotion and heart emotional and the history between Barry and his mother is the big root of it. Everything that follows is a consequence of that, but the history has to be deep,” he said. “With love and affection is the only way we know how to work. Heart and hope are the only things we need,” concluded Barbara Muschietti, producer of the film.

Diving into the multiverse, Andy explained a little bit about his vision and the differential he wanted to bring to something that’s already been explored in cinema,

“I think I bring freshness and new energy to this story. Many people are familiar with the multiverse, but I’ve always been hopeful because it’s a very different film. interesting. It’s a multiverse film, but everything else, from the details, is innovative,” he said.

Celebrating the return of Michael Keaton as Batman, Muschietti revealed that he never imagined this could happen.

“For me it was a dream come true. I never imagined that he would return as Batman and that I would be the director of that return. It was a strange dream, but I hope it is not a dream.”

Sasha Calle, who debuts as Supergirl, also shared what her experience was like when she entered the DC and Flash universe.

“Supergirl is hope, love. She carries it in her chest and also in her heart. I love this character so much, as well as being able to work with this team, which is something very powerful.”

Among the behind-the-scenes curiosities, Calle said she almost gave up on cutting her hair so short.

“When Andy called me, I said I was going to get a haircut, I agreed at that moment. However, when we got there, he told me it was a Supergirl with short hair and, I confess, I thought twice, but she looked at me with those pity eyes and i was all for it.it was pretty crazy but interesting, i love that hair already.

In The Flash, worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel through time and change past events. But when he tries to save his family and ends up inadvertently altering the future, Barry is trapped in a reality where General Zod has returned, threatening to put the world at risk, and there are no superheroes to turn to. Unless Barry can convince a very different Batman to come out of retirement and rescue a trapped Kryptonian…even if that’s not quite what Batman is after.

The film is released June 15 in theaters.
