Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan form one of the best tandems in the history of sport. They practically dominated the NBA in the 1990s, securing six leagues for the Chicago Bulls and providing thrilling games for fans. Due to his heroism on the pitch, many were shocked and saddened when Pippen published his memoirs and began to criticize Jordan. The attacker does not go around the bush discussing his feelings and, more recently, opening up about the opportunity to play with Jordan again if given the chance.
The NBA veteran’s first problems with his former teammate came from ESPN The Last Dance (Transmissible with a netflix subscription ). Scottie Pippen felt the documentary “glorified” Michael Jordan (who should have had editorial control) and failed to give him and the rest of the Bulls players their due. Pippen also believed that Jordan wanted to “prove to the current generation of fans that he was bigger than life during the day, and even bigger than LeBron James.” He went on to say that Air Jordan had “ruined” basketball with his playing style, which has seen him handle the ball for a long time.
So with all of this in mind, it’s natural to wonder if the Hall of Famer will be joining its former accomplice again. angels’ KTLA 5 asked him this question in an interview and his short answer may surprise you:
Yup! I would only play with Michael Jordan.
It looks like Scottie Pippen would be open to another collaboration if the opportunity arises. While it may come as a surprise to some, the feelings are completely understandable. Pippen, like many others, cannot ignore the idea that His Airness is (or once was) a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. And that kind of raw talent can overcome any kind of bad blood among colleagues.
However, Michael Jordan himself hasn’t publicly commented on any of his former teammate’s recent comments. However, many other actors have contributed their grain of sand in this regard. Charles Barkley was quick to applaud , arguing that the former Chicago Bull had settled for the “big game” to sell his book. Barkley within the Co-host of the NBA, Kenny Smith also intervened and, although he remained civil, he admitted he saw no problem with The Last Dance. Also a member of the hall of fame Grant Hill shared honest thoughts, as he expressed his sadness at the apparent division between the duo he loved to watch and the one he played against.
Former bull Charles Oakley was particularly outspoken about one-sided meat. When Scottie Pippen said it he was “cool” like Michael Jordan , Oakley suggested his stats didn’t reflect that idea. On another occasion, the former striker expressed his belief in him that what’s happening now between the two stems from something that happened during their playing days.
Those days are definitely over but, in the midst of the feud, some fans might be happy to hear that Scottie Pippen will still be playing with MJ. It’s a small compliment, yes, but a compliment nonetheless. And who knows, maybe that could be the spark that finally brings the two beloved athletes back to the same page. We can only wait.
