More than one face rings a bell and you don’t know where you’ve seen it before.
For its fourth season, ‘Stranger Things’ has returned to a large scale: its episodes are longer, it has several plot lines and it has more varied locations. To this is added that its cast has expanded considerably. Even though the series has us used to having several casualties and new arrivals in each season, we now have several new faces.
To get our bearings through the new crowd, here’s an introduction from high school students Eddie, Chrissy, Jason, Argyle, Dmitri… Who are these new characters we meet in these new chapters?
Robert Englund as Victor Creel
The fourth season pays another tribute to horror movies with another legend of the genre: Robert Englund (‘Nightmare on Elm Street’) plays Victor Creel, the disturbed man accused of a horrific murder in Hawkins in the 1950s and has been incarcerated in a local psychiatric hospital ever since. For the version of this character in 1986, when the fourth season takes place, Creel’s house has become an infamous place in Hawkins, where Steve, Dustin, Nancy and company. They want to find answers.
Kevin L. Johnson as Victor Creel
Creel’s character is also presented in the series in his younger version, a family man from the 50s. The actor Kevin L Johnsonseen in the series ‘Ozark’ among other works, stars in that flashback set in that past decade, where a happy family moves into that big house before things start to go horribly wrong.
Joseph Quinn isEddie
In this fourth season, the high school has more projection and among its students is Eddie Munsen. Portrayed by British actor Joseph Quinn, Munsen is a fan of heavy metal as well as role-playing games. In fact he is the leader of the official D&D club The Hellfire Club. Quinn has been seen in ‘Game of Thrones’, playing Koner, a guard at Winterfell. The actor has also worked on ‘Dickensian’ or ‘Strike’.
Grace Van Dien as Chrissy
26-year-old actress/director Grace Van Dien (‘The Village,’ Greenhouse Academy, The Binge) plays Hawkins High’s head cheerleader, Chrissy, described as “the most popular girl in school” and the girlfriend of the captain of basketball, Jason. But all is not as it seems with Chrissy, as beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies a dark secret.
Eduardo Franco is Argyle
Viewers of ‘Super Nerds’ would recognize that face (and that mane). Eduardo Franco was in Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut film. In the fourth season, this comic actor is Argyle, a stoner pizza delivery man, and Jonathan’s new friend in his new stage in California, where Jonathan has gone Joyce, his mother, his little brother Will and his adoptive sister ‘ Jane’ (Eleven).
Mason Dye is Jason
Mason Dye gets the role of Hawkins High School basketball star Jason Carver, one of the most popular kids. Handsome, rich, popular, and Chrissy’s partner. According to Jason and his henchmen, the new evil haunting Hawkins comes from the school’s outcasts. Dye, 28, previously appeared on the series ‘Teen Wolf’ among other jobs.
Tom Wlaschiha isDmitri
It may be one of the faces that have sounded the most when watching the series. And it will sound more familiar to you if suddenly someone had said “Valar morghulis”. And it is that the fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ will recognize Wlaschiha as the faceless man Jaqen H’ghar, an assassin who changes identity and who trains Arya Stark in the House of Black and White. The German-born actor has appeared in other series such as ‘Borgia’ or ‘Jack Ryan’. In ‘Stranger Things’ he becomes Dmitri, a guard at the gulag Hopper is in. Once again, the actor plays a character that does not seem very trustworthy.
