The process will be discussed again in the August 2 session
Last Wednesday (14), the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) discussed the analysis of the appeal presented by the defense of the former footballer Robinho, sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment in Italy for collective rape.
The lawsuit involving the former AC Milan striker will be discussed again by the court in a session scheduled for August 2nd.
In April, STJ Minister João Otávio de Noronha called for a reconsideration and blocked the conclusion of the trial of the 39-year-old former athlete’s defense appeal.
On that occasion, the Brazilian’s lawyers asked the STJ that the Italian government send the country a complete translated copy of the lawsuit against their client.
The court hears Robinho’s appeal against Italy’s request to serve the sentence in Brazil, which does not extradite its citizens.
In January 2022, the Supreme Court of Italy upheld the convictions of the former player and his friend Ricardo Falco for gang sexual assault.
The two were convicted of the rape of a young Albanian woman in 2013, when the victim was 22 years old. .
