The new judge Lava Jato has signed a manifesto in support of Moro in the hacker case

Fábio Nunes de Martino, designated to lead the remaining trials of the operation at the 13th Federal Criminal Court in Curitiba, signed a motion in 2019 in favor of the then Minister of Justice, whose cell phone was spied on by a group arrested in Spoof operation

Appointed to take over the 13th Federal Criminal Court of Curitiba, where the remaining trials of the Operation Lava Jatothe judge Fabio Nunes de Martino signed a motion in support of Sergio Moro when the dialogues he had with the then Federal Attorney Deltan Dallagnol became public.

The conversations, obtained by a group of hackers, have bolstered allegations of bias and concerted action against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

The manifesto was published in 2019. The text classifies the messages as a “republican interinstitutional dialogue” and states that they “do not violate the principle of impartiality”.

“We believe that, as a judge, Sérgio Fernando Moro has never deviated from the duties required of a serious magistrate, aligned with ethical principles, committed to the pursuit of truth and the application of justice, with the rule of law, with impartiality, acting in the greatest case of corruption known in the world, with immense dedication, sacrifice and being subject to personal and family risks of all kinds”, reads the motion.

Martino worked at the 1st Federal Court of Ponta Grossa. He takes over from Judge Gabriela Hardt, who was temporarily in charge of Lava Jato. With this, the 13th Court of Curitiba joins the fifth judge since the time of Moro.

Judge Murilo Scremin Czezacki, of the 2nd Federal Court of Cascavel, will be the substitute.

The exchange comes at a delicate moment for the 13th Court of Curitiba, which is the subject of an extraordinary inspection by the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
