Prime Video: The French series that took down The Last of Us is getting a second season

It was an early-year success on Prime Video. On February 3, the platform put online Cœurs Noirs, a French fiction by Nicolas Duuchel, Marie Dompnier (Witnesses), Tewfik Jalabi (Engrenages), Nina Meurice (Mixed), Jérémy Nadeau and Thierry Godard.

Comprised of 6 episodes, this series takes us to Iraq in October 2016, on the eve of the battle for Mosul, and follows the daily lives of members of the French special forces commandos. These men and women are on a mission to find and expel the daughter and granddaughter of an important French emir of Daesh, whom they have captured and who will only cooperate with them on this condition.

Directed by Ziad Doueiri (Baron Noir) and created by Duong Dang-Thai and Corinne Garfin, who were the screenwriters of Le Bureau des Legendes, this new original French creation quickly won the praise of critics and Internet users.

It is therefore not surprising that the series topped the most watched programs on Amazon Prime Video in France, beating the phenomenon The Last of Us, the post-apocalyptic series adapted from the famous video game franchise played by Pedro Pascal. and Bella Ramsey.

In the face of this success, Prime Video announced last night that Coeurs Noirs would be returning for a second season. Good news for Platform subscribers, as the first season ended with a great cliffhanger that left the future of the group, and especially Sabrina (Nina Meurice), on hold.

The entire cast of Salvo, the first episode, will also be on hand for filming, which is set to begin before the end of the year. According to a press release sent out by the platform, in this second season, “The fight against Daesh continues, but for Group 45, the mission has become a personal affair“.

Zaid Dweir will reprise his role as director for the occasion, and the scripts will be penned by Virgin Brack, who notably worked on Engrenages and Liaison. However, you’ll have to be patient to discover Black Hearts Season 2, as the episodes won’t be released on Prime Video until 2025.
