Black Mirror on Netflix: You might have missed this hidden detail at minute 14 of Season 6 Episode 1

Warning, spoilers. It is recommended that you watch the first episode of Black Mirror Season 6 before you continue reading this article.

After four years, Black Mirror Season 6 is finally available on Netflix. Fans responded, and these new episodes of Charlie Brooker’s anthology series quickly rose to the top of the platform’s top views.

This new season has taken a different direction, not only dissecting the excesses of new technology, but also focusing on the fantastic, while the media is part of the satire.

That wink you might have missed in episode 1

Over six seasons – and an interactive Bandersnatch movie – Black Mirror has managed to weave multiple stories, each as terrifying as the next. This leaves Charlie Brooker with the opportunity to sneak a few Easter eggs and other winks into his episodes.

This is the case of the first chapter of season 6, titled “Joan is Scary”. It tells the story of how Joan (Annie Murphy), an ordinary woman, discovers to her horror that the global streaming service Streamberry has turned her life into a TV drama starring actress Salma Hayek. His existence, his thoughts, his flaws and his shortcomings are exposed to the world in a series that will turn his life upside down.

In this critical episode of streaming platforms and artificial intelligence, there is another episode of Black Mirror. We meet at minute 14, when Mac (Rob Delaney), Joan’s ex, is on the throne and he receives a message from Streamer telling him that the program is available on the service.

It has been trending on social media close to Twitter and we see a message from a certain Lacey on the feed. This is the character played by Bryce Dallas Howard in “Free Fall”, the first episode of Black Mirror Season 3.

Recall that “Chute Libre” tells the story of Lacey, who lives in a society governed by a personal rating system, meaning that citizens rate themselves from 0 to 5 in each interaction. And top rated ones have privileged access and better services.

Lacie has a 4.2 rating, but that’s not enough for the expected lifestyle. So he will do everything for it and change his profile accordingly. Fortunately, he is invited to a childhood friend’s wedding, rated 4.6.

Then he sees it as a way to rise socially and increase his score. But a series of unfortunate events sends him into a downward spiral and causes him to fall in class until Les loses his leg entirely.
